| New Media and Learning Innovations Peter A. Bruck, Dr. jur., Ph.D., M.A., was born in Vienna in 1950. He studied Law, Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Vienna ; Fulbright Scholar in Soziologie an der University of Iowa ; Graduate Studies and Humanities Fellow in Communication an der McGill University ; Professor of Journalism and Communication an der Carleton University, Ottawa ; Professor at the Department of Communication Studies (1990-1995), Honorary Professor for Information Economics and New Technologies at the Department of Economic Sciences at the University of Salzburg. He was director of IENM (Institut für Informationsökonomie und Neue Medien) and founder and scientific director of Salzburg Research (1996-2001) and founding academic director of the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg (1995-1997). From 2001 to 2002 he was director of Jet2Web Internet Services GmbH and director of the business unit "Interactive Media" of Telekom Austria AG. Since 2002 he has been director of the Research Studios Austria of the Austrian Research Centers GmbH ARC Group. His research interests focus on the development of new communication technologies and information structures and the changes of business processes, mass media, culture and society by ICTs. Furthermore he is the initiator of the Austrian State Price for Multimedia and eBusiness and director of EUROPRIX, the European competition for the best multimedia contents. Bruck is chairman of the Council of Europe board for media diversity in Europe and member of the highest advisory board of the United Nations for Information and Communication Technologies (UN ICT Task Force) in New York. |
